The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Liquid Blenz Corp is voluntarily recalling its Good Brain Tonic due to a potential risk of botulism, a rare but serious form of foodborne illness. The recall applies to all lots of the product, which was sold nationwide in both 16-ounce and 32-ounce amber bottles through retail stores and online.
Botulism is caused by toxins produced by Clostridium botulinum bacteria and can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. Early symptoms may include general weakness, dizziness, double vision and difficulty speaking or swallowing. As the condition progresses, individuals may experience trouble breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal swelling and constipation. Anyone experiencing these symptoms after consuming the product is advised to seek immediate medical care.
The potential contamination was identified through product analysis conducted by the Cornell Food Venture Center, along with field testing by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product.
Consumers who have purchased Good Brain Tonic are urged not to consume it and instead return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company has also provided a customer service number for additional questions. They can be reached at 516-608-8826.
While recalls like this can be concerning, they are an important part of the food safety system designed to protect public health. Staying informed and acting quickly, such as checking product labels and following recall guidance, can help reduce risk and keep you and your family safe.
