Ben’s Original has announced a voluntary recall of certain varieties of its Ready Rice products after discovering that small, naturally occurring stones may be present in a limited number of packages. While the stones come from the rice farm itself, they could pose a risk of injury to the mouth, teeth or digestive tract if eaten.
The recall includes select batches of Ben’s Original Long Grain White, Whole Grain Brown, and Long Grain & Wild Ready Rice with “best by” dates of August 2026. These products were distributed to several U.S. retailers — including HEB, Target, Amazon, United Markets and Piggly Wiggly — between August and September 2025. The affected batch codes are printed on the bottom seal of the back of each package and include:
- Long Grain White Rice: 533ELGRV22, 534ALGRV22
- Whole Grain Brown Rice: 534AMGRV22, 534BMGRV22, 534DMGRV22
- Long Grain & Wild Rice: 533BMGRV22, 533CLGRV22, 533CMGRV22
Ben’s Original emphasized that no other products are affected and that no injuries or illnesses have been reported to date. The recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution and in line with the company’s commitment to safety and transparency.
Consumers who may have purchased one of the recalled items are advised not to eat the rice. Instead, contact Ben’s Original Consumer Care to arrange a return and receive more information. The support line can be reached at 1-800-548-6253, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CST and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST.
You can also contact Target with additional questions for in-store (1-800-440-0680) and online (1-800-591-3869) purchases.
For safety, always check the packaging before consuming and discard or return any product that matches the batch codes above.
