Wegmans Food Markets has announced a recall of several cheese products, including Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This recall is a precautionary step to protect customers’ health.
Why this matters
Listeria is a type of bacteria that can cause serious illness. While healthy people may experience only short-term symptoms — such as fever, headache, nausea, stomach pain or diarrhea — it can be very dangerous for young children, older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. In pregnancy, it can even lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
What products are included in the recall (sold between July 1 and August 12, 2025)
- Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, 8.8 ounces (UPC: 77890-53515; Best By 7/26/25, 8/12/25, 8/19/25)
- Wegmans Assorted Cheese Flight, 1 pound (UPC: 2-77100-00000-0)
- Wegmans Grilling Camembert with Tapenade & Roasted Tomatoes, 10 ounces (UPC: 2-77297-00000-0)
- Wegmans Caramel Apple Pecan Topped Brie Cheese, 13 ounces (UPC: 2-77645-00000-3)
The products were sold at Wegmans stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
So far, no illnesses have been reported. The recall was initiated after Wegmans’ supplier, Estancia Holdings, learned from its French supplier that several shipments might be contaminated.
What you should do
